Here's who we are and what we believe.
For 75 years, Camp Lurecrest has been a place of joy and belonging for countless campers. Our summer camp community on Lake Lure is relationally intentional and uniquely adventurous. We seek to embody the Gospel in an authentic and meaningful way, caring deeply about the safety of each camper.
We believe that a well-run, Christ-centered summer camp is a good experience, and also good fun; but it can be much, much more. It can be life-changing. We aim to create a physically and emotionally safe environment where campers can experience autonomy appropriate for their age – they can choose what they eat, what activities they participate in, and even what they buy at the gift shop! In chapel, they are also encouraged to think about their personal relationship with God. We encourage them to consider a faith not based on what their parents believe, but a faith of their own. And we pray that in this setting, they hear God’s voice of truth telling them who they are, whose they are, and how much they are loved. Over the years, we have seen God use this setting time and again to impact young lives in a long-lasting way.
A week can change a life!

Is a well-run, Christ-centered summer camp just a good experience? Just good entertainment? We believe that such a camp is a good experience, and also good fun; but it can be much, much more. It can be life-changing. A well-run, Christ-centered summer camp is one of the most effective ways to soften the hearts of God’s children so that they can hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. That is not just our opinion. Recent studies conducted by a number of universities have shown that more children are brought to salvation by God’s sovereign grace through a summer camp than through any other venue. Why is this so? Because a caring, Christ-focused summer camp offers a unique environment that captures the hearts of the campers so that they can hear the voice of the Father. And it is his voice of truth that is needed for this new generation to tell them who they are and whose they are. At Camp Lurecrest, we are committed to proclaiming this great truth with every ounce of our energy, every activity we run, and to every camper God brings.
