Campers Having Fun

Jerry & Charlotte Martin

Jerry Martin - Executive Director

Charlotte and I are ready to begin our 14th year at Camp. We would ask for your prayers for strength and wisdom. Our task is great and wonderful and we are humbled to have been called by the Lord to serve at Lurecrest. We are privileged to serve and not to work under a burden! Our Board of Trustees is wonderful, qualified, compassionate, and single-eyed in their service. I am grateful for them and their love for Charlotte and me and the ministry.

Please join us in prayer for this season as the children come by God's grace and direction. We will do our best to remain faithful and to preach, teach, and live out the Gospel of Jesus accurately, passionately and consistently for the staff and the campers. God bless you!

Jeremy & Lindsay White (Keller, Coleman, Porter)

Jeremy White - Camp Director

Although Jeremy White has faithfully served Camp for many years, he began serving as Camp Director in 2006. His father grew up attending and loving Camp Lurecrest, and Jeremy came as a camper several years from his home in Dallas, Texas. He came back east to play soccer in college, and graduated from Furman University in 1993 to begin his career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen. It was during this time he began to pray through a "calling" to camping ministries, and he began volunteering at Lurecrest in 1997, and
quickly formed a bond in the Gospel of grace with Executive Director Jerry Martin. In 1999 he left the business world to train with Outward Bound, to begin seminary studies, and to run Lurecrest's outdoor programming. During this period he met his wife Lindsay (through a Lurecrest connection) and returned to the business world in 2002 and worked with Grant Thornton in Charlotte until joining Lurecrest fulltime in 2007. We already see God's
grace and anointing on his life and ministry, and are thankful for Jeremy and Lindsay, and their 3 sons Keller (4) Coleman (2), and Porter (born May 2009).

Nate, Amy & Noah Larson

Nate Larson - Director of Maintenance

Nate originally came to Camp Lurecrest in 1997 and served on Staff as the Director of Male Counselor Development. He stayed for 3 years before marrying his lovely wife, Amy, and living/working close to family in Minnesota. However, they returned to join us full time with their 5 year-old son, Noah, on April 1st of 2006. Nate brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience that is vital for Camp Lurecrest as we move into the next phase of ministry God has for us!

Nathan Shuttlesworth

Nathan Shuttlesworth - Director of Food Services

Nathan came on board full-time in the Fall of 2005, eventually serving not only in the summer months, but all year long for our retreats, work-groups and our 9-month Bible school. What God did in bringing this young man to us is astounding and wonderful. His Mother, Marian Shuttlesworth, and her 3 sisters, the Morgan sisters, were both campers and staff, serving in the kitchen with Meryle. This was all unknown when Nathan applied for a staff position in the Winter/Spring of ’05. He is highly skilled, formally trained and one of the finest chefs in this part of the country. We are grateful to God for Nathan and also grateful for our 2006 “100% Rating” on our State Health Department Certificate!

Teresa Monroe

Teresa Monroe - Director of Staff Development

Teresa has been a part of the Lurecrest family since her youth, when she attended as a camper.  She oversees the recruitment and hiring of staff, as well as assisting in programming development and operations decision-making.

Scott Woods

Scott Woods - Director of Development/Special Projects

Scott worked with Camp Lurecrst in the mid-1990s, first as a counselor and then various leadership positions.  After working in managment for NCFB, Inc. and then acquiring his Master's in Theology from Regent College - Vancouver, BC, Scott returned to Camp Lurecrest in December 2005 to oversee the day-to-day operations of Camp Lurecrest's Charlotte office, initiate marketing strategies, and increase operational efficiency.
